At Project Uplift Ranch Equine LA (PURE LA), we believe in creating opportunities for children to grow, learn, and thrive through hands-on experiences. This mission was given a significant boost thanks to a generous donation from John McCarthy, Founder and Owner of RopeSmart, and his daughter, Johnna Wilks. This family-owned and operated business near San Antonio, Texas, has been a trusted name in roping gear since 2009, and their contribution has made a meaningful impact on our program.
RopeSmart generously donated two Short Go Roping Dummies to our ranch, giving our young participants the chance to practice roping skills while developing their hand-eye coordination and reflexes. These roping dummies are not only fantastic tools for learning but also inspire confidence and discipline in the children who use them.
“We are so grateful to John and Johnna for their incredible support,” said Michelle Johnson, Program Director, and representative of PURE LA. “The kids are already having so much fun with the Short Go Roping Dummies. It’s amazing to see them learning new skills and building their confidence at the same time.”
For many of the kids, this experience represents their first introduction to roping, a skill deeply rooted in equestrian culture. By incorporating this activity into our Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) program, we’re providing a fun and interactive way for the children to engage with the ranch environment and its traditions.
The McCarthy family’s dedication to supporting community programs like ours is truly inspiring. Their donation is more than just equipment—it’s a tool that fosters growth, teamwork, and perseverance among the children who come through our program. This act of kindness perfectly aligns with RopeSmart’s mission of supporting aspiring ropers and building strong communities.
At Project Uplift Ranch Equine LA, we know that it takes a village to make a difference, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have partners like RopeSmart who believe in our mission. With the addition of these roping dummies, we’re excited to continue helping kids develop skills and confidence that will serve them both on and off the ranch.
Thank you, John McCarthy, Johnna Wilks, and the entire RopeSmart team, for your generous support and for helping us create an unforgettable experience for the next generation. Together, we’re making a lasting impact—one rope at a time!
THANK YOU!!!
